Santa Catarina view point has a new image.
Recently rehabilitated, is another place to visit if you want to enjoy the environment of the city.

It is situated in one of the hills of Lisbon, and has a majestic view to the Tagus River and the traditional Lisbon’s red roofs. A huge statue of Adamastor (an epic figure from Lusíadas), is here to remind the Portuguese strength discoveries around the world: perseverance, confidence, faith ... when Portuguese explored seas never before navigated.

This is a little square with a romantic aura created by the river presence but also by the buildings architecture which reflects the charm of the city.

Some of Traditional neighborhoods can be appreciate from here, such as, district of São Paulo, Madragoa and Lapa. Also from here, we have a magnificent view to the Cristo Rei statue on the other side of the river and the bridge over the Tagus. A suspension bridge, inaugurated in 1966 which is often, compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Nearby, there is the Pharmacy Museum. Considered one of the best museums in the country, tells the story of the Portuguese pharmacies throughout the centuries. Reconstruction of some old pharmacies can be observed. From simple apothecary eighteenth century to the traditional pharmacy twentieth century, through the traditional pharmacies existing in some of the former colonies such as Macau.

To get to the Mirador de Santa Catarina go to Praça Luís de Camões, in Chiado. Follow Rua do Loreto straight to Calçada do Combro. Immediately after the Elevator da Bica turn left at Rua Marechal Saldanha and go ahead...

And you are already there!
