It´s a
recent Tapas place in Calçada do Combro full of Portuguese flavors. Located near Chiado, this is not a restaurant, but it’s
a place to enjoy with friends while you explore the Portuguese appetizers.
With a strong focus on genuine Portuguese foodstuffs,
produced by small farmers, here you can "poke" a variety of sausages,
cheeses and torricados (a specialty from Alentejo), among other snacks, always
accompanied by Portuguese wine.
Some of the highlights are the "Trambolho de Tábua", which consist in a mix of cheeses (cured and buttered), olives, homemade sausages, ham and traditional bread served in a wooden board, and “Torricado de Presunto”, a toasted slice of bread with white asparagus, ham and cheese.
nome “ Embaixada Portuguesa”
This is an unpretentious place where the decor is
itself a reflection of the Portuguese identity, distinct by the colors and
textures. The traditional hats of Alentejo were turned into lamps and rattan
baskets adorn the walls, while the traditional pottery welcomes the snacks
arriving to the tables. All this wrapped with a good portion of sympathy from
the employees and Fado’s melody.
compotas e vinhos.
A small grocery store hosts a selection of traditional
products from all Portugal, like olive oils, teas, treats, jams and wines.
Tip: After a walk through “Ribeira das Naus”, go up to
the top of Santa Catarina hill. Take the
“Elevador da Bica” and enjoy the views along the little houses and narrow
streets with its inhabitants always full of joy. Once you are at the top of the
hill, try to visit Santa Catarina view point, a romantic square with gorgeous
views to the River and in the end of your walking, stop at the “Embaixada
Portuguesa” to enjoy the Portuguese flavors and recharge your batteries.
